volunteer
Volunteers are fundamental to the hospice hub. We are a compassionate community caring for each other.
Volunteers provide hospice and bereavement services, advocate for hospice, fundraise, lead workshops and raise awareness through community events.
Volunteer training is offered at regular intervals. For information on upcoming training sessions, click here.
home support volunteers
Home Support Volunteers offer emotional support and practical help to clients facing a life limiting illness. These volunteers provide companionship, comfort measures, practical support, emotional support and respite to caregivers. Our Home Support team plays a unique role by being a neutral and non-judgmental presence.

Bereavement Support Volunteers offer emotional and practical support to bereaved clients through our various programs including One to One Support, Closed Groups, Drop-In Groups and Grief Walks.

volunteer training
The Hospice Hub Volunteer Training Program uses Hospice Palliative Care Ontario’s training curriculum as a basis. This core material is supplemented by hands-on, practical exercises and workshops with guest presenters and content experts from our catchment area.
Training is offered at regular intervals. Each session runs for 7 weeks of weekly in-person class of 3 hours, as well as some light reading and homework activities between meetings.

This 30+ hour training is mandatory for Home Support and Bereavement Support volunteers who serve our clients directly. It is also highly encouraged for Organizational Volunteers even if they are not serving clients.
Both Anne and Dale are exceptional in their ability to engage and "facilitate" group participation.
There is so much heart in this group... the room was full of people wanting to help.
Keep doing what your doing... proving the theory and knowledge while weaving in the experimental and the experiences of the palliative clinicians.
